Most bloggers fail when it comes to making success in blogging, if you have done this before, you know what I am saying, or you have heard it severally that making success in blogging is not quite friendly.

But I’ve discovered something just about that; before you will say you didn’t succeed in blogging, there must have been a goal that you didn’t accomplish, otherwise, you haven’t failed, at least not yet.

Some people start blogging without setting there blogging goals, and after many years of blogging and not earning anything from the blog, they start thinking that they have failed. No, they haven’t failed, they are still in the process.

Let me clarify my point even further;

If you start a blog with the intention of making money online, now, you didn’t specify the month of which you want to start making money, so even if you blog for twenty years without making a dime, you haven’t failed, because you can still make money after that time.

But if you start a blog with the intention of making $200 with it in 4 months time, and earn only $199 in 4 months, then you’ve failed because you didn’t meet up the target.

What is failure in blogging?

Failure in blogging is when you didn’t meet up with your plan for a particular period of time.

So that’s why it is crucial to set up your blogging goal before making any step further.

I have told many new bloggers about this and they come up with questions like;

Now, if you don’t know what your audience want, it will be difficult for you to come up with good contents that they will love.

Whether you want to make money, have your word heard out there or you want to increase your brand awareness, the thing you need is quality contents and audience.

How to understand your audience

use keyword research

use keyword research tools to find out how people are searching for a particular key phrase on the internet. There are free tools and paid tools out there that you can use,

for this example, I will use ubersuggest, a free keyword research tool.

if your blogging niche is "basket ball", you can log on to ubersuggest.com and type in your keyword and hit search.

This method is very effective, if you want to know what your audience are looking for, one of the most effective way to find out is by checking out question and answer forums.

In this example I am going to use Quora, one of the biggest Q and A forum. If you don’t use Quora as a blogger, I urge you to create an account right now.

After signing up as a member in Quora, you will have access to different topics, all you need to do is join the topics that matches your blog niche, lets say it is basket ball, there are many groups about basket ball, join them all.

And after you’ve joined them, you can visit any of those groups and locate the “questions” tab just below the group picture,

then you'll see questions asked my the members, when you see these kind of questions, you know that since someone is asking this kind of questions, that means there are other people asking this same question too.

Set up your blogging goals

After understanding your audience, now is the time to start setting up your goals, do you want to earn money from them? Do you want them to know about your business? Or do you want to have access to their emails so that you can keep them updated about your business?

After knowing what they want, you will then develop a sense of how to get what you want from them by giving them what they want from you.

And one thing you must do is, as you are setting your blogging goal, you should also set the time that you want to start seeing effect.

Remember that, if you don’t set a time for your blogging plan, you won’t be able to know if you’re performing well or not.
